Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and was a United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014.
